Perry County School District No. 32 board meeting report released

PERRYVILLE – A report of the Perry County School District No. 32 Board of Education meeting held March 12th has been released.

 

The open session was called to order at 7:00 p.m. and the pledge of allegiance was recited.

 

The board approved the consent agenda items which consisted of:

  • February 12, 2025 regular session minutes
  • February 24, 2025 special session minutes
  • February 2025 warrants
  • MSBA Policies GCBDA & GDBDA

 

Recognitions:

  • Perryville High School Chamber & Treble Choir to perform for Music in our Schools Month, under the direction of their teacher, Ms. Taylor Davis, accompanied by Terry Rousseau and Terry Edwards as the pianists.

            ○ Group 1: Lillian Cowell, Alyson Peeler, Adalynn Thieret, Emma Taylor, Jocelyn Schweiss,             Abigail Bridges

            ○ Group 2: Ayla Schuler, Kathryn Broeking, Chloe Cox, Jocelyn Schweiss, Guinevere      Newbrough, Alyson Peeler, Josephine Lohmann, Taylor Ebershol

  • Perryville High School Football Academic All-State Awards: Student-athletes must be nominated by their head coach, be a start in 70% of game, be in grades 10-12, and meet 2 of the following criteria: Score 25 or higher on the ACT, earn a 3.5 or higher GPA, and/or rank in the top 20% of their class. Mr. Brent Roth is the head football coach.

            ○ Wesley Pfaff, Alex Hayden, Wyatt Schremp, Barrett Wheeler

  • Perryville High School Softball Academic All-State Awards: Student-athletes must play at the varsity level and have a cumulative unweighted GPA of at least 3.7 after the fall 2024 semester. Mr. Jim Simpson is the head softball coach.

  • School Board Recognition Month

            ○ Board member certificates from MSBA

            ○ Richard Dix, Board Member, for years of service to the district.

  • Perryville Elementary Gifted Students: 3rd place in the Gifted Association of Missouri’s video contest “Celebrating 50 years of gifted in Missouri”. The video was shown in the Missouri capitol building on Gifted Association Day February 19. These students are taught by Phoebe Pohlman.

The board approved to go into closed session at the conclusion of open session.

 

An update on Pirate Pride days was given as we have had 11 inclement weather days this school year; teachers will not have to make up days 10 and 11; any future inclement weather days will be readdressed if necessary.

 

The MSBA policy updates 2024D were discussed and moved to the consent agenda for next month.

 

The student council representatives gave a report on a survey regarding student absences. They were Kathryn Broeking, Ava Day, Waylon Huber, Alyson Burns, Morgan Hahs and Reese Behrle.

 

District Administration reported on finances, attendance and class sizes.

 

The board newsletter and the MSTA March 2025 video was viewed.

  1. a) Probationary & Permanent Teachers rehired for the 2025-26 school year, as presented.
  2. b) Trenton Gremaud as a teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
  3. c) Karson Colvis as a teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
  4. d) Landon Mitchell transferring to an art teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
  5. e) Updated Substitute list was approved.

 

Personnel matters were discussed.
