Oliver W. “Mitch” Michaud, 92, of Perryville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Mercy Hospital Perry.
He was born November 5, 1932 in Perryville, MO to Peter Valle and Pearl (Fadler) Michaud.
Mitch and Lavern Wolter were married on December 31, 1977 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chester, Il. She survives him in Perryville.
He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in occupied Germany post World War II. During that time he played on the U.S. Airforce Base football team.
Mitch was a Real Estate Broker and the owner of Michaud Enterprises. He was a muscian that performed in the Doug & Mitch Band for over 45 years. Mitch enjoyed water skiing, horseback and trail riding, camping, motorcycle and dirt bike riding, stock car racing, attending the Tuesday morning breakfast at the Missouri National Veterans Memorial, visiting the Miraculous Medal Grotto and spending time with his family. He was awarded “Best Grandpa of the Year” by the Republic Monitor. No matter the situation he always told people he was “terrific”. Mitch always held his God and his country in high regards.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, previous member and President of the Lions Club in Perryville, current member of the American Legion Post #133, AmVets #94, and a lifetime member of VFW #3557 in Chester, IL.
Additional survivors include three children, Karen Michaud of Perryville, Oliver J. Michaud of Perryville, Denise (Randy) Riehn of Perryville; brother, Melvin (JoNell) Michaud of TX; sister, Yvonne (Joe) Schnitzler of Festus, MO; five grandchildren, Laura (Glen) Buchheit, Dusten Brown, Mandy Brown, Kelly (Rick) Post, Riley Riehn; five great-grandchildren, Kayla (Caleb) Hadler, Megan Buchheit, Iris Post, Lola Post, Leo Post; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter & son-in-law, Christy (Michaud) & Gene Brown; grandchild, Miranda Beth Brown; sister, Sandy (Michaud) Zahner; two brothers, Earl Joseph Michaud, Kermit Paul Michaud.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville and will continue from 8:00 am to 9:30 am on Monday, March 17, 2025 at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Monday, March 17, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with Rev. Joe Geders C.M. officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to Missouri National Veterans Memorial or St. Vincent de Paul School Endowment Fund.
