A funeral was held Sunday, February 9, 2025 for 80-year-old Freddie Wayne Res of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 9:56 am, Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at his residence.
He was born November 25, 1944 in Rockwood, Illinois to Fred Wayne and Edna D. (nee Thompson) Res who both preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons: Steven Res of St. Petersburg, Florida and Scott Res of Homer, Louisiana; a daughter: Vicky Schwankhaus of Red Bud, Ill.; a brother: Roy Res of Chester, Ill.; four grandchildren:
Chris (Jessica) Linnertz, Austin (Lindsay) Schwankhaus, Kelly (Nick) Thielmann and Jon (Jennifer) Farah; four great grandchildren: Anna and Tatum Schwankhaus, Eleanor Thielmann and Thomas Farah.
He was also preceded in death by his companion and best friend: Shirley Denton; a daughter: Rhonda Farah and his beloved dog: Annabelle/
He was a sergeant at Menard Correctional Center in Chester for 31 years.
Freddie was of Lutheran Faith. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of many clubs such as the American Motorcycle Association, Randolph County Riders and the Sportsmen Club. Freddie was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.
Visitation was held from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the Pechacek Funeral Homes, Chester, Illinois
