A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 for 81-year-old Paul Andrew Estel of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 2:20 pm, Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born April 5, 1943 in Murphysboro, Illinois, a son to Clarence H. “Sheik” and Kathlyn P. (nee Rosenberger) Estel, who both preceded him in death.
Paul married Donna Gross on March 15, 1980 in Chester, Illinois; she survives.

Four Grandchildren: Hunter, Breanna, Sophia and Josiah
Two Step Grandchildren: Nick and Carrie
Three Step Great Grandchildren: Silas, Liam and Amaya
Four Brothers: Michael (Becky) Estel, Terry (Janet) Estel, Stephen (Brenda) Estel and James (Karen) Estel
A nephew: Craig Estel Pope
Three Brothers-in-law: Dennis (Paulette) Gross, Larry (Cheryl) Gross and Bill (Joan) Gross
And many Special Cousins, Nephews, Nieces and Friends
Preceded in Death by a sister: Donna Joy Signaigo and a brother: Jack H. Estel
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Chester.
Paul retired from Chester Mental Health Center as a Security Therapy Aide III.
He was also a barber all his life and enjoyed meeting and talking to people.
Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting and fished many successful fishing tournaments.
He also served as a head coach for the Chester High School Bass Fishing Program for several years.
One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Paul was a United States Army Veteran.
A Memorial Service for 81-year-old Paul Andrew Estel of Chester, Illinois, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday March 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Chester with Dr. Mike Fogerson officiating.
Memorials may be made in Paul’s honor to Chester First Baptist Church and are being accepted at Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
