Prior to starting her family, Mick worked in the offices of the International Shoe Company in Perryville and Brown Shoe Company in San Antonio. In the early years of their marriage, Paul served in the Air Force and his service took them to Wyoming, Texas and Michigan prior to Paul being stationed in Korea. While raising her family, Mick enjoyed singing in the choir, serving in the Ladies Aid and as a Sunday School teacher at Zion. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed trying new recipes, a love she passed along to all five of her children. Mick enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals and watched many games wearing a Cards jersey and she always wanted to know who the pitcher was.
For many years, Mick and Paul were very active members of the Perry County Republican Central Committee.
Mick enjoyed good health throughout her life until she became very ill with Guillain-Barre Syndrome in 2007 which left her with temporary paralysis. With God’s grace, she battled back to walk again and regain enough independence to enable her to enter into assisted living at Independence Court in Perryville. Then in 2015, Mick was diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoma. Once again, with God’s grace, Mildred endured countless treatments and she was declared cured with cancer in remission.
In November 2019 Mick needed more daily assistance and she moved into the care facility at Independence Care where she remained until her passing.
