Women’s Wellness Services Update to our Community

STE. GENEVIEVE — Recently there has been a great deal of commentary and speculation regarding Women’s Wellness and OB Inpatient services at SGCMH.  This brief note is intended to update the community regarding current events and near-term priorities in this area.

Like nearly every other rural hospital, SGCMH has recently seen some financial challenges.  For the past several months, the Board has reviewed and Senior Leadership has implemented measures for good stewardship of our resources and engage in best practices for our clinical, financial and operational future. We have reviewed every aspect of our organization and services offered.  We are taking steps now to make the most of our financial and operational practices and efficiency, and expect very good results.

One area of study that has generated particular attention is the Women’s Wellness spectrum of care, due to some particular short-term operational challenges.    The Board has made it clear that the full spectrum of Women’s Wellness services currently in place is a high priority to continue for Ste. Genevieve and surrounding communities.  To that end, Senior Leadership is undertaking the necessary steps to grow the service line as quickly as is possible.  We expect to expand our medical staff and inpatient nursing resources to help prepare for our future, and to best serve our community.

Our next big event to support SGCMH’s Women’s Services is the Taste of Ste. Genevieve County, featuring our great medical and nursing staff, and proceeds will go to support our local services.  We look forward to seeing you at the Community Center on April 12 to join us in the fun!

Respectfully,

Dr. Steve Pautler
