SPRINGFIELD – Illinois State Representative David Friess released the following statement this evening following House Republicans leaving the House Floor in a unified protest:
“For weeks, we’ve been in session. For weeks, Democrats have had the power to bring real, meaningful legislation to the floor—bills that could lower taxes, address crime, and ease the financial burden on families. But instead, they’ve wasted time on political games.
Today was no different. Instead of passing laws that actually help our constituents, they pushed resolutions like HR115-119, a meaningless gesture that does nothing to improve the lives of hardworking Illinoisans.
That’s why my Republican colleagues and I took a stand. We walked out of the House chamber to send a clear message: Enough is enough. We weren’t elected to play along with their political theater. We were elected to fight for the people.
Illinois families deserve real leadership—not empty resolutions.”
Rep. Friess proudly serves the people of the 115th District.
