House minority leader criticizes governor and Chicago’s mayor on immigration

SPRINGFIELD – In a recent Illinois House Republican press conference members met with the media to discuss immigration and the impact on residents throughout the State of Illinois.

House Minority Leader Tony McCombie (R-Savanna) said Illinois families deserve transparency and accountability in the face of a migrant crisis that the governor and Chicago mayor Johnson recklessly invited into the state.

McCombie said the governor irresponsibly claimed that ICE was targeting schools in Chicago, a statement that was completely false.

She also targeted the Chicago mayor and asked, what is he hiding from congress following their requests for information on his city’s sanctuary city policies.

In addition, she pointed at more violence in the city resulting in another murder committed by an illegal immigrant.

The Republican leader said the House Republican caucus has long called for legislation to end the sanctuary status.

McCombie also called on the House Immigration Committee to hold hearings immediately to get all of the facts and to have the tough questions answered.
