Two SG R-II Dragons honored by Missouri Association of Student Councils

STE. GENEVIEVE – Two SG R-II educators have earned top honors from the Missouri Association of Student Councils (MASC), highlighting their outstanding dedication to students and leadership.

Congratulations to Ste. Genevieve High School teacher and Student Council co-sponsor Tyson Roth, who was named the Southeast Regional Sponsor of the Year, and SGHS Principal Dr. John Boyd Jr., who was recognized as the Southeast Administrator of the Year.

These awards are especially meaningful because students submitted the nominations, sharing heartfelt messages of gratitude and admiration for both recipients. Here are a few of the sentiments students shared about their contributions:

Mr. Tyson Roth: Math teacher, School Development Seminar Coordinator, Student Council Co-Sponsor

  • One of the things that makes Mr. Roth stand out is how he empowers students to step up and make real changes in our school. He gives them the freedom to lead, make decisions, and take on initiatives that actually improve the school. He’s all about giving students hands-on experiences that push them to grow as leaders.
  • Roth’s energy and positivity are unmatched. He pours his heart into everything he does, and it’s contagious. You can feel it in our hallways, especially with fun traditions like the Running of the Halls, where Mr. Roth helps infuse school spirit and pride in a way that gets everyone excited. He has been key in building a strong school culture and climate, and his enthusiasm shows up in the day-to-day atmosphere at SGHS.
  • He works hard to create a program that fosters inclusivity and positivity. He spends lots of his time planning assemblies and after school events minute by minute, ensuring that the students have an awesome experience.
  • Roth goes out of his way to lift up students within STUCO. He’s always finding ways to recognize their efforts and show them that their work matters. Whether it’s through community service or school initiatives, he motivates them to be active, engaged and invested in making SGHS the best it can be. He truly embodies our motto at SGHS of Family, Tradition, & Excellence.

Dr. John Boyd Jr. — SGHS Principal

  • Boyd goes above and beyond for SGHS! He always makes sure all of our students are comfortable in the school environment. The high school is just a better place when Dr. Boyd is around!
  • Boyd is exceptional at his job. He is very engaged with the students of SGHS and makes it a point to get their opinion on what’s going on in high school. His Principal’s Advisory Group meets every other Monday to discuss what is going well and what can improve. He truly listens to us and works to make our high school experience the best it can be. He also empowers students by having them present his principal’s report at monthly board meetings, giving us a voice and showcasing our perspectives.

Dr. Boyd and Mr. Roth will be honored and presented with plaques at the MASC State Convention, which will be held in Poplar Bluff next spring.
