Jerry T. Davis

A funeral will be held Thursday, December 12, 2024 for 87-year-old Jerry T. Davis of Perryville, Missouri who peacefully passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 31, 1937 in Perryville, MO to Ray Murry and Myrtle Ada (Heinbokel) Davis who both preceded him in death.

Jerry married Sandra Bollinger on August 29, 1959 in Chester, IL. The marriage produced three children, Pamela, Timothy, and Thomas. Sandra Survives in Perryville, MO

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, MO.

Jerry had a passion for farming and tractors, and began working for his father at Davis Farm Supplies in the parts department in 1955. He became owner and general manager of Davis Farm Supplies, Inc in 1974.

 

He has always been a leader, having been an officer of the 4-H in Creal Springs, IL and president of the FFA in Marion High School in Illinois. He excelled in the business world acting as president of the Southeastern Equipment Dealer Association, the president of the Mississippi Valley Dealer Association, plus, he served on the Board of Directors at the national level. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of the Home Trust Mercantile and US Banks.

 

In later parts of his life he became interested in antique tractors, currently having over 45 tractors and served as president of the River Hills Antique Tractor Club where in he helped organize Old Timers Day, tractor rides, Plow Days and harvest days. He also has a collection of toy tractors, children’s pedal tractors that he showed in St. Louis and Sikeston.

 

Jerry was a joke and story teller, plus he was an avid supporter of the community to include 4-H Clubs and FFA. He also organized annual ATV rides, the funds of which went to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. He supported the local Missouri Veterans, sponsoring periodic breakfasts for the veterans at the Missouri’s National Veteran’s Memorial in Perryville, MO.

He dearly loved his wife of 65 years, his family and his home.

Survivors include his wife Sandra, daughter, Pamela Kay (Paul) Klaus of Jackson, MO; two sons, Timothy Lynn Davis of Perryville, MO, Thomas Wayne (Michelle) Davis of Perryville, MO; brother, Jimmie Ray (Carol) Davis of Tuscaloosa, AL; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 7-11 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral service for 87-year-old Jerry T. Davis of Perryville will be held at 11 a. m.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Ford & Young Funeral Home with Bro. Tractors from the River Hills Antique Tractor Club will lead the Funeral Procession.

Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
