The Fruitcake is a hilarious comedy about an extended—and quite dysfunctional—family gathering for the annual Christmas tradition: Aunt Hazel’s historically inedible fruitcake. But before she can bring it out, some of the relatives steal it and make a bet on whether they can destroy it.
There are two different casts for these performances. Cast 1 performs on Saturday, while Cast 2 performs on Friday and Sunday. (Cast 1 also performed on Thursday night.) Director Robbie Riehn shares that he and the cast have had a great time producing this play.
“The title of the play says it all!” he said. “Even though we have heard the jokes many times, we still crack up. It is a good, clean comedy for the whole family. Everyone will identify with many characters, including those from their own families. I had to make two casts because so many kids auditioned! It’s a great problem to have.”
The show is produced by special arrangement with Heuer Publishing LLC in association with Brooklyn Publishers, LLC.
The cast for the Dec. 7 shows includes Gracelynn Grein as Anastasia, Lily Cooper as Zoe, Jazmine Welsh as Grandma Margaret, Alaina Brozak as Mom, Peyton Wools as Uncle Fred, Gracie Weinkein as Amy, and Brock Carey as Jeremy.
