JEFFERSON CITY — A 55-year-old Ste. Genevieve man was one of four drivers involved in a traffic crash on I-55 south of Route Z.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Msgt. A. S. Huskey investigated the crash and in his report the four vehicles were all northbound on I-55 when traffic slowed due to construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway.
The Ste. Genevieve man was driving a 1998 Chevrolet 1500 which was struck in the rear by a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by a man from Herculaneum which failed to slow to avoid the collision. The driver of the Hyundai received minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital-Jefferson by ambulance. The Ste. Genevieve man was uninjured.
The Chevrolet 1500 had moderate damage, but was driven from the scene. The Hyundai had extensive damage and was towed away. The two other vehicles in the crash had minor damage and were also driven away.
The crash happened about 7:35 a.m. south of Route Z.
