A funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec.4, 2024 for 90-year-old Ioan E. Alms of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 1:40 am, Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Independence Care Center, Perryville, Missouri.
She was born October 27, 1934, In Fairfield, Illinois to Everett and Lucille (nee Newton) Bivens who both preceded her in death.
Ioan married Wilbert “Wib” Alms August 21, 1982 at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester; he preceded her in death on December 2, 2012.
She is survived by four children: Don “Mac” (Therese) McKinney of Perryville, Mo., Timothy (Jules) McKinney of Stillwater, Okla., Mark (Kimberly) McKinney of Venice, Fla. and Tracy (David) Hunter Chester, Illinois; three siblings: Jack (Kay) Bivens of Sparta, Illinois, Linda (Don) Stallman of Chester, Ill., and Robert (Martha) Bivens of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren: Lauren, Leslie, Shaun, Greg, Clinton, Eric, Jaala, Matt, Devin, Matthew, Sara, Nathan, Luke and Caitlin Ioan; several great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends,
Three brothers: John, Jim and Bill Bivens and a son- in-law: Tom Maue.
She was a timekeeper in the records office at Menard Correctional Center for 20 years.
Ioan was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester.
She enjoyed going to yard sales and spending time with her family.
Christmas was Ioan’s favorite holiday and she was known for her village that sat in the window of Stallman Hardware store every year.
She was also known for her Christmas morning breakfast where she made baked eggs and her entire house was decorated in every room.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Illinois.
A funeral for 90-year-old Ioan E. Alms of Chester, Illinois will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the Pechacek Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois, the Rev. Timothy Sims will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Chester, Illinois.
