Southern Missouri Reentry to launch state-of-the-art federal reentry program

FARMINGTON, MO — Southern Missouri Reentry (SMR) has been selected by the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to provide reentry services for individuals reintegrating into their communities after federal incarceration. SMR will serve 12 counties in the region: Ste. Genevieve, Perry, St. Francois, Cape Girardeau, Iron, Reynolds, Shannon, Carter, Ripley, Wayne, Bollinger, and Madison.

SMR’s new residential reentry center, located at 850 Progress Drive in Farmington’s West Industrial Park, is scheduled to open as early as March 2025. Extensive renovations are underway to ensure the building meets federal requirements and the needs of its reentry program.

SMR’s comprehensive reentry program provides participants with the tools necessary to successfully reintegrate into their families, communities, and workplaces. Core services include stable employment assistance, family reunification support, aftercare services, and access to housing.

Participants will benefit from a holistic approach to rehabilitation, including 24/7 monitoring by trained staff and TRACKtech, LLC GPS technology. These tools ensure accountability, promote safety, and reduce the likelihood of recidivism.

SMR Program Director Logan Bryson, hired in February 2024, brings extensive experience in federal reentry services. He previously held a leadership role with Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health (SEMOBH), which held the region’s federal reentry contract for decades before voluntarily ending its partnership with the BOP in May 2023.

“We are honored and excited to fill the void for those returning home from federal prison. We have been engaged with the Farmington and St. Francois County area for the past 12–18 months,” said SMR Vice President Anthony Arington. “This award re-establishes vital services and allows us to fulfill our mission of creating successful second chances in this close-knit community. With significant investment in our state-of-the-art facility and Mr. Bryson’s leadership, we are confident SMR will become one of the premier federal reentry programs in the nation.”

Mr. Bryson holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice. He is deeply involved in the Farmington and St. Francois County communities.

“I am eager to collaborate with organizations and businesses in the area to develop impactful solutions that promote positive outcomes for everyone in our community,”  Bryson said.
