Doris Evelyn Lodge Jackson, 95, of Ellis Grove, Illinois, passed away at 5:45 am, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Oak Hill Nursing Home, Waterloo, Illinois.
She was born to the late Anderson Cabot and Constance (nee Mathis) Lodge on October 6, 1929 in Willisville, Illinois.
Doris married the love of her life, Harry Jackson, on January 26, 1952 in Lawrenceville, Illinois. They raised five children and sponsored countless activities and organizations. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2019.
Doris loved learning and attended Southern Illinois University to become a teacher. Locally, she taught language arts at Evansville Attendance Center for many years and is fondly remembered by her many students for her love of poetry.
Serving God, her family, and her church were most important to Doris. She had steadfast faith in God and her life served as an example to countless children, friends, and neighbors of the rewards of living according to His will and loving one another. Doris was a member of Perryville United Methodist Church but spent many years serving her Lord at Grace United Methodist Church in Ellis Grove.
Survivors: Children: Michael (Anna) Jackson Ellis Grove, IL, James Jackson Affton, MO, Patti (Dr. Harry) Henderson Steeleville, IL, Joyce Jackson Chesterfield, MO and Mollie (Robert) Wallace Greenwood, IN; Grandchildren: Christopher (Erica) Jackson, Andrew (Audra Robinson) Jackson, Erica (Lawrence) Zerante, Courtney (Olivia) Henderson, Ciara (Ben) Grosman, Lauren (John Palmer) Jennings, Scott Wallace, Erin Bristow, and Laura Schweder. Great Grandchildren: Emily Jackson, Wade Zerante, Desi Zerante, Rocco Zerante, Karolina Palmer, Kaiden Palmer, Kinley Palmer, Oren Jackson, Hera Jackson, and nine step great grandchildren.
