Missouri Ethics Commission reaches consent agreement with St. Mary officials

JEFFERSON CITY – Two St. Mary officials, former Mayor Carlton Wyatt and current Alderman Annette Hacker have signed a consent agreement with the Missouri Ethics Commission following the commission’s investigation of improperly labeled campaign material during the campaign for the April 2024 election.

The two officials agreed to pay $100.

The agreement states that “There is probable cause to believe the (Wyatt and Hacker) violated (state law) 130.031.8 RSMo by purchasing and mailing printed campaign material which failed to include an accurate ‘Paid for by’ disclosure statement.”

A longtime St. Mary resident recalled, “This is about a letter mailed to selective residents advocating (for Proposition E) to merge the collector and clerk signed by the mayor and board that didn’t include the required ‘paid for by’ disclaimer.”
