STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve County received its October sales tax receipts on Nov. 7th, but the amount, $454,937.04 spread across five accounts, is down a total of $6,110.46 compared to September receipts.
So far this calendar year the tax receipts have brought in $4,084,565.51, but that is down $541,179.22 from the first 10 months of 2023.
County officials say the shortfall is being created by a change in state law on how certain industries are taxed.
