A funeral will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024 for 94-year-old Robert G. Uding of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by family in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
He was born May 10, 1930 in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., a son of John E. Uding and Clara M. (Palmer) Uding who preceded him in death.
He married Dorothy Ann “Dot” (Brewer) Uding. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by four sons: Bill (Teresa Vaughn) Uding of Denver, CO, John “Chip” (Felice) Uding of Bloomsdale, MO, Joe (Donna) Uding of Sainte Genevieve, MO, and David (Patricia) Uding of St. Louis, MO; five daughters: Mary (Richard) Rebecchi of Sainte Genevieve, MO, Patricia Uding of Flagstaff, AZ, Betty (John Harris) Uding of Seattle, WA, Susie Uding-Ennis of Colorado Springs, CO, and Victoria (Wayne) Uhrich of Sainte Genevieve, MO; 18 Grandchildren; and 24 Great Grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Marie Rose, Dolores “Dodo” Koetting, and Shirley Daubel; two brothers: Clarence Uding and Frank Uding; and a grandson.
Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus 1037.
He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1951 till 1954.
Bob lived most of his life in Ste. Genevieve.
He spent his retirement years, 1983-2007 in Homosassa Springs, FL.
He was the founder and co-owner of Ste. Gen. Building Stone Co. where he worked from 1949 till 1983.
During his life he helped develop, design, and build Pointe Basse Subdivision, Shopping Center and Apartments.
Captain Bob Uding ran a charter fishing boat in Florida from 1984 till 2006.
Woodworking and traveling the world with Dot were Bob’s passion and his family was his heart and soul.
Bob was often busy pursuing his passions but his family was always on his mind. His often repeated advice to all his children was: “Use Good Judgment”, which may not have been followed all of the time.
Visitation will be 9-10:15 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, MO,
A funeral for 94-year-old Robert G. Uding of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Clergy will be Rev. Anthony Gerber.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Perryville, MO with full military honors.
