Eugene ‘Gene’ O. Prange

A funeral will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 for 80-year-old Eugene “Gene” O. Prange of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, who passed away at 11:14 a.m, Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

 

He was born September 26, 1944 to the late Oliver and Jacqueline (nee Aubuchon) Prange on September 26, 1944 in Red Bud, Illinois.

 

He is survived by his fiancee: Ruth Pope (Andres); Rayette Cory, Wade Fults, Lara (Jason) Pope-Griffith, Joseph (Amanda) Pope and Veronica Pope, who he was a fatherly figure to; four sisters:

Sue (Bill) Kunkel, Betty (Dave) Gross, Gail (Marvin) Roy and Tammy (Marty Stempel) Dixon; 11 grandchildren: Savannah, Jessica, Alyssa, Lindsay, Steven, Damion, Zeke, Korben, Mackenzie, Jackson and Aubrey; two great grandchildren: Gabe and Colton; eight nieces and nephews:

Bonnie (Brian) Kelley, Natalie (Mike) Jones, Scott (Kimberly) Gross, Roger (Carrie) Gross, Teresa (Tyler) Buchheit, Justin (Cassie) Roy, John Dixon and Sarah (Jeremiah) Gloria

Many Cousins and farm friends.

 

Gene was a farmer and co-owned the family dairy farm.

 

He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault, Illinois.

 

He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 622 in Prairie du Rocher for over 50 years and was a past commander.

 

Gene was a member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau and the Monroe County Cattleman Association.

 

He was proud of his centennial farm plaque.

 

Gene was a U.S. Army veteran.

 

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today (Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud,  Illinois and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024  at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Renault, Illinois

Interment will be in the Gilbert Cemetery in Ames, Illinois.
