STE. GENEVIEVE – Ste. Genevieve County voters overwhelmingly supported Republican candidates in Tuesday’s balloting. Only two local races were won by Democrats.
The voters said Yes to Donald Trump for president; Josh Hawley for U.S. Senator, Mike Kehoe for governor, Dave Wasinger for Lieutenant Governor, Denny Hoskins for Secretary of State; Vivek Malek for State Treasurer; Andrew Bailey for Attorney General; Jason Smith for 8th District Congressman; Mike Henderson for District 3 state senator, Bryant Wolfin for District 145 State Representative, Brice Sechrest for 24th Division 1 Circuit Judge, Wendy Lynn Wexler Horn for 24th Division 2 Circuit Judge.
In local races the Republicans also did well, electing Cory Ford as Associate Commissioner in Disdtrict 1, and re-electing Mark Marberry to Associate Commissioner in District 2; Gary Stolzer as sheriff, Gerald “Duck” Bader as surveyor, Amanda Kuehn as Public Administrator and Lisa (Klein) Marschel as County Collector
Two Democrats won local races in Ste. Genevieve County: Linda Wagner as County Assessor, and Eric Basler as Coroner.
Ste. Genevieve voters said no to Amendment No. 2 to allow betting on sports events, No. to Amendment No. 3 to allow abortions in Missouri, no to Amendment No. 5 to allow a gambling boat at the Lake of the Ozarks, and no Amendment No. 6 for funding of law enforcement. The voters said yes to Amendment 7 to bar non-citizens from voting and no Proposition A to increase the minimum wage and allow mandatory sick days for workers.
Voter turnout in Ste. Genevieve County was 72.4 percent or 9,908 out of 13,688 registered voters.
