A funeral will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 for 90-year-old Irene Augusta (Giesler) Werner of Valley Park, Mo. who passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Cape Albeon Assisted Living in Valley Park, Mo.
Irene was born August 7, 1934 in Ozora, Mo., a daughter of Fred Giesler and Amanda Giesler, who both preceded her in death.
She married her husband of 22 years, Lloyd Meyer, on September 12, 1953.
Following his passing, she married her second husband of 15 years, Leroy Werner, on June 4, 1988.
She is survived by: three daughters: Janet (Mark) Denny of Ballwin, Mo., Brenda (belated Tom) Wedding of Evansville, Ind., and Sharon (Bob) Olwig of St. Louis, Mo.; a son: Dale Meyer of Russellville, Ark., a brother: Francis (Glenda) Giesler of Bloomsdale, Mo.; grandchildren: Laura (Ybene) Dalla, Sean (Lauren) Clancy, Tiffany Najbart, Frank Najbart, and Royce Najbart, Rachel (Jeremy) Moll, Samantha (Jim Dolan) Denny and Jonathan (Katie) Denny, Dana (Steve) Grosch, Kayla Mueller, Jaron (Katie) Wedding, Houston Wedding and Tristin (John) Shetler, Anna (Nicholas) Pavlishin and Jake Olwig, Magdalene (Jacob) Adams, Shelley (Colby) Wilson and Teal (Tom) Dontrich, and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands: Lloyd Meyer and Leroy Werner; four sisters: Marguerite (Ray) Grein, Norvella (Edward ) Wolk, Mary Ann (Burton) Drury, and Estella (Tim) Palmer; four brothers: Leonard (Mercedes) Giesler, Cletus (Cleta) Giesler, Gregory (Helen) Giesler, and Bernard (Joyce) Giesler.
Irene grew up on a large farm in Ozora, MO with 9 siblings. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary in Sainte Genevieve, MO, ushered for 27 years at the Fox Theatre in St Louis, was a hairdresser for many years and retired from Boeing aircraft industry in St Louis. She enjoyed quilting, flowers and gardening, bowling, card games with friends and watching the Cardinals baseball games. She was lastly a member of St Joseph Parish in Manchester, MO where she took part in the choir. We will always remember her as being incredibly strong but yet gentle and warm. Her memory will lovingly be carried in our hearts always.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
A funeral service for 90-year-old Irene Augusta (Giesler) Werner of Valley Park, Mo. will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve.
Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, MO.

Irene was a supporting member or to Pathways Hospice Foundation, 14805 N Outer 40 Road, Suite 160, Chesterfield, MO 63017 (with note “in memory of Irene Werner”). Pathways gave excellent care to Irene at end of life.
