PARK HILLS, Mo. – Mineral Area College (MAC) has long been recognized for providing quality, affordable education that not only transforms lives but also strengthens the local workforce by producing highly skilled, job-ready graduates. The college’s commitment to educational excellence is reflected in its ability to offer curriculum aligned with industry standards and to stay ahead of rapidly evolving technologies.
Through donations to the 2023 Enhancement Grant Campaign, MAC invested $202,647 in new equipment, curriculum, and training for students, including a new driving simulator for the MAC Law Enforcement Academy.
Maintaining this high level of excellence, however, requires significant investment. To help meet these growing demands, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is offering a matching grant opportunity of up to $3-to-$1, providing crucial support for the expansion and development of MAC’s career education programs.
MAC’s annual Enhancement Grant campaign is dedicated to raising the necessary funds to equip students with advanced tools and equipment needed for cutting-edge career training.
This year’s fundraising efforts are centered on MAC Tech programs housed within the newly constructed Industry and Technology Center, William Dickerson Welding Technology Center, and HVAC/R Technologies Center. These state-of-the-art facilities are set to have a significant impact on the local economy by training students for critical jobs in key industries. The programs provide hands-on training in high-demand fields such as machine tool technology, carpentry, industrial maintenance, welding, automotive technology, and HVAC/refrigeration. The campaign will also support established programs like Nursing and Law Enforcement, ensuring they remain equipped with the latest resources.
A Call to Action for the Community
The MAC Foundation is reaching out to the community to rally support for the Enhancement Grant campaign, which runs through December 31, 2024. The funds raised will enable the college to acquire cutting-edge equipment, up-to-date curriculum, and hands-on training resources. Thanks to DESE’s matching grant, every dollar donated has the potential to quadruple in value—$100 becomes up to $400 in purchasing power.
“Last year, we were able to invest $202,647 in new equipment, curriculum, and training, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors,” says Kevin Thurman, MAC Executive Director of Development. “With the expansion of our MAC Tech career and technical programs, we need your support now more than ever. Your contributions will help us prepare skilled professionals to fill key roles in vital industries, benefitting the entire community.”
