CHESTER – The Chester High School Lady Jackets Golf Team played their final regular-season home match of the 2024 season Monday September 30 at the Chester Country Club Golf Course. It was “Senior Day” 2024 and the Lady Jackets said goodbye to fellow teammate Rylie Conley, the lone senior on the squad.
The event was a dual match with the Trico Lady Pioneers who had only two golfers against Chester which was not enough to qualify for an official team score. Both Trico and Chester, however, played the 9-hole march on a beautiful, partly sunny, day which featured temperatures in the low 70’s.
Lady Jacket Head Coach, Meg Schnoeker said, “The Lady Jackets had their final home match of the season tonight against Trico which didn’t have enough players for a team score. We celebrated Lady Jacket senior, Rylie Conley, who shot a great round of 49 at her final home match. We will miss her very much next season.”
Chester fielded six golfers that competed in the varsity event. Top golfer for the day was Lady Jacket Rylie Myers, a junior, who shot 46 and placed 3rd overall. Riley Lochhead, a junior, was Chester’s second finisher with her score of 47. She placed 4th overall.
Senior, Rylie Conley shot 49 to finish Tied for third out of the six Lady Jacket golfers. Her overall place was 5th. Teammate Macy Bert, a junior, Tied Conley for third in the Chester lineup with her score of 49 strokes. She also tied with Conley for 5th overall.
Rounding out the Lady Jacket competitors were Jessica Stumpe and Mallorie Homan. Stumpe, a junior, finished 5th on Chester’s lineup with her performance of 55 strokes. She placed 7th overall. Homan, a freshman, finished 6th for CHS with her 57-stroke performance. She placed 8th overall.
Even though Trico only brought two golfers to the dual match, those two Lady Pioneers finished 1st and 2nd in the 8-player field.
Whitney Lovel, a sophomore, was the medalist or best golfer (lowest score) with her match of 38 strokes. She also was the top overall golfer. Aubrey Coleman, a freshman, was the second overall finisher with her score of 45 strokes, just one stroke ahead of Chester golfer, Rylie Myers.
Coach Schnoeker said she was very proud of all of her Lady Jacket golfers. Immediately following the conclusion of the dual match, Schnoeker announced Whitney Lovel as the medalist for the match, and then introduced Rylie Conley as Chester’s only senior golfer for “Senior Day 2024”.
