A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date for 56-year-old Roy Turner of Red Bud, Illinois, formerly of Chester, Illinois, who joined his grandmother and brother, Bradley, in heaven on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
He was born February 6, 1968 in Murphysboro to Elsie (nee Moranville) Turner. She survives in Chester.
Roy married the love of his life and best friend, Jaimie Turner, on May 26, 2007 in Renault, Illinois. She survives in Red Bud.
He is also survived by a daughter: Ashley Turner of Columbia, Illinois; two grandsons: Davien Turner and Lincoln Francis; four siblings: Keith Turner of Christopher, Illinois, Tammy Turner of Chester, Illinois, Tracey (Brett) Nordmeyer of Ellis Grove, Illinois and Melanie Morber of Chester, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Bradley Turner.
Roy made a living as a quality control manager for Falling Springs Quarry in Dupo, Illinois.
Roy loved his family and spoiling his grandsons. He was best known as “Papa” and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Roy was rarely seen without a smile and never met a stranger. Roy’s quick-witted humor made it hard for those around him not to laugh.
A private service will be held.
A Celebration of Life of Service will be held at a future date.
Memorials may be made in Roy’s memory to the American Cancer Society and are being accepted at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
