A funeral will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024 for 80-year-old David C. Schweigert of Bloomsdale, Mo. who entered eternal rest Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at his home.
He was born March 8, 1944 in St. Louis, Mo., a son of Clement Schweigert and Ismay (Greminger) Schweigert, who both preceded him in death.
He married his high school sweetheart, Mary (Basler) Schweigert, October 1, 1966. They were married for almost 58 years. She survives in Bloomsdale.
He is also survived by two sons: Dean (Suzzie) Schweigert of Fenton, Mo., John Schweigert (special friend Lisa Sutterer) of Bloomsdale, Mo.; a daughter: Jill (Andrew) Roth of Fenton, Mo.; a brother: Robert (Carol) Schweigert of Bloomington, Ill.; a sister: Katie (Richard) Huck of Festus, Mo.; a brother-in-law: Wayne (Doris) Basler of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; grandchildren: Megan and Kali Schweigert and Luke and Max Roth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law: Betty Basler.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale, Mo.
A funeral for 80-year-old David C. Schweigert of Bloomsdale will be held at St. Agnes Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024. The clergy will be Rev. William Thess, Rev. Ryan Weber, and Deacon Jim Basler.
Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Bloomsdale, Mo. with full military honors.

David was a loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and a man full of many accomplishments in his life. He loved spending time with family and friends. David was our strength and biggest supporter putting everyone else first.
David was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran spending most of his four years at Amarillo AFB, Texas, in various administrative offices. He was selected Base “Airman of the Month” for setting up a new Tech School office.
David’s Catholic Faith was a big part of his life. He volunteered at St. Agnes Parish and School, worked at the St. Vincent de Paul and St. Agnes Food Pantry, and was a past Treasurer of the St. Agnes Home and School Association. David was a quiet leader. Over the years, he served the community in many organizations.
David was a member and past Treasurer of the Knights of Columbus Council 1898 for many years. He was a Treasurer for the Bloomsdale Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years.
David was not only a member of the Jaycees, but he also was Past President and Vice President of the Bloomsdale Jaycees and received an award of Bloomsdale Chapter, Jaycee of the Year in 1977. He received the Distinguished Service Award for Ste. Genevieve Jaycees in 1978.
David was a member of the American Legion Post 554, Committee member for the Bloomsdale Senior Citizens Housing Project, past Board Member of the Board of Trustees for the Ste. Genevieve County Health Department, past Co-Chair of the American Red Cross Fund Drives in Ste Genevieve County, Treasurer of the Ste. Genevieve County Recreation Board for 3 years, and served on various committees to develop the Bloomsdale Community Sunset Park.
David especially enjoyed his grandkids’ events such as gymnastics, soccer, dance, flag football, soccer, golf, baseball, basketball, volleyball and being with them on Grandparent Days. David made everyone around him feel loved and cherished. He will be tremendously missed.
