CHESTER – On a cool breezy, mostly overcast day, the Chester High School Boys’ Golf Team hosted the Trico Pioneers Golf Team in a dual match. The game was supposed to take place on Monday September 23, but rain caused a 1-day delay to Tuesday September 24.

The wait was worth, it, however, because the extremely dry Chester Country Club Golf Course soaked up the rain very easily and made golfing much more pleasant. Temperatures were in the low 70’s and the clouds blocked the sun most of the 9-hole match.

The match with Trico teed off at 4:00 p.m., but prior to the first stroke, CHS Head Coach, Jaden Mott held a brief “Senior Day” ceremony at which time Jacket fans said goodbye to three YellowJacket golfers.

It was the final home golf match of the season for Chester, so three YellowJacket golfers were playing the last match of their high school careers at the Chester Country Club including Max Blechle, Evan Dunning and Noah Homan.

Each senior was introduced by Coach Mott along with his parents as he presented the family with orange and black balloons and a certificate.

Max Blechle was accompanied by his parents Chris and Valerie Blechle. Evan Dunning was joined by his father and mother Jim and Rhonda Dunning. Closing out the ceremony was Noah Homan and his father Jeremy Homan and Noah’s Step-Mom, Ashley, and his Mother, Tori Homan.

With only two teams playing, the course was clear and calm throughout the entire 9-hole match. There were a total of 20 golfers participating in the event, 11 from Trico and nine from Chester. The Jackets led the first seven holes, but fell just one stroke short in the final two holes.

Chester’s Noah Homan was the medalist in the match with his lowest score of 37 strokes. It was fitting that he would turn in the best (1st Place) score of the match on hos senior day. The other three Chester contributing scores included Evan Dunning (4th, 42), Tallen James (4th, Tie, 43), and Trevin Eggemeyer (7th, Tie, 44). Total 166 strokes.

Other YellowJacket golfers and their scores include Max Blechle (9th, 52), Kross Jany (12th, Tie, 55), Aidan McKinney (16th, Tie, 59), Logan Brace (16th, Tie, 59), and Logan Springston (20th, 66).

Trico golfers combined to score 165 strokes including Brock Hines (2nd, 38), Michael Brees (3rd, 40), Kaden Langston (5th, Tie, 43), and Tucker Deming (7th, Tie, 44). Total 165 strokes.

Other Pioneer scores include Jesse Barge (10th, Tie, 54), Kade Estel (10th, Tie, 54), Shane Stroub (12th, Tie, 55), Owen Woolf (14th, 57), Gavin Lovel (15th, 58), Ethan Kranawetter (18th, Tie, 63), and Tate Schaber (18th, Tie, 63).

Coach Mott said, “These seniors are what this program is made of. They are everything to this team! Without this group, we wouldn’t be who we are. Their leadership, willingness to work, and commitment to this team and are what is getting us better every single day!”
