From the CHS Class of 1954
CHESTER, ILL. – Byron Grimes deserves a big thank you from the Chester High School Class of 1954, For many years Byron has been the central source of information about class members. He has also spent considerable time and effort organizing our Class Reunions.
Particularly for our every 5-year Class Reunions, he arranged dinners with entertainment, a CHS Homecoming Parade float, a party at the home of Mary Mullen Hinz, and other interesting activities.
The 2024 Homecoming Week at CHS is from Monday, September 16 to Saturday, September 21, with a CHS Homecoming Parade, and Homecoming football game with Sparta, on Friday, September 20.
Noting that CHS has a very good Football team in 2024, and is undefeated after three games with DuQuoin, Pinckneyville, and Fairfield.
It is 70 years after we graduated from CHS in 1954.
Normally, Byron would have organized a 70-year Class Reunion for the CHS Class of 1954. But, because of health reasons Byron was unable to organize anything for 2024. And no one else has taken Byron’s role.
So, there is no 70-year Class Reunion.
This makes us realize how much we miss Byron’s outstanding work for our CHS Class of 1954.
