Next round of public engagement for Move 2024, IDOT’s Long-Range Transportation Plan

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today the next phase of public input for Move Illinois: 2024 Long-Range Transportation Plan, which aims to advance the state’s mobility landscape by strategically outlining goals, objectives and strategies for the next 20 to 30 years. The public is invited to review and provide feedback at www.moveil2024lrtp.com.

“Long-term planning and public engagement are core functions of IDOT,” said Illinois Transportation Secretary Omer Osman. “We look forward to your involvement and input as we build a plan that will help future generations to grow and succeed in Illinois.”

In the first phase of outreach, the public was asked to provide a general vision and goals. In the current phase, a new round of questions will be asked based on the initial input, with a focus on making sure the feedback is representative of the state’s population. The materials are made available in a variety of languages.

The department also will be providing in-person engagement opportunities via community events throughout the state. Residents will have the chance to speak with IDOT staff directly, learn more about the plan and complete a survey to provide their feedback. A current list of events is available on the project website at www.moveillinois2024.com.

The project team also works with residents, business owners and transportation professionals from across the state in an advisory group. This group combines the transportation expertise and information gathered from communities in each phase to help form the goals, objectives and strategies that will make up the Long-Range Transportation Plan.
