Chester High School announces plans and candidates for Homecoming 2024

CHESTERChester High School has one of the earliest homecomings in recent history. Homecoming 2024 will take place the week of September 16 thru 21, 2024 with tons of activities scheduled throughout the entire week.

 

 

The 2024 Chester High School Homecoming Court was announced Friday September 6. King and Queen Candidates were chosen as nominated by the student body. The Queen will be crowned at halftime of the Homecoming game Friday September 20 when the YellowJackets host the Sparta Bulldogs. The King will be crowned Saturday night September 21 at the 2024 Homecoming Dance in Juergens Gymnasium. The coronation will take place at 9:00 p.m.  The public is invited to attend the coronation. The CHS Student Council and “HIVE” Pep Club have released the schedule of events and activities, as well as the 2024 Homecoming Court King and Queen Candidates.

 

Activities begin right away with special dress-up starting Monday September 16. The CHS Student Council will present the theme of the 2024 Homecoming Week as, “Tangled Spirit Week” coined after the theme of the Disney movie, “Tangled”.

 

Monday September 16 will be “Follow Your Dreams Day” at which time students and staff will be encouraged to “dress up in apparel that fits as your future dream career”.

 

Tuesday September 17 is titled, “Tangled Hair Tuesday Day”. On this day, students and staff are encouraged to “tangle your crazy hair like you just don’t care!” In addition, students should also wear their special custom-made Homecoming 2024 T-shirts. 

 

Wednesday September 18 will be, “At last I see the Light Day”.  On this day students and staff will light up their outfits and apparel with various types of lights such as wearable tree lights, glow sticks, flash lights, etc.

 

Thursday September 19 is scheduled as “Conceal yourself like a chameleon Day”. On Thursday students and staff are encouraged to camouflage yourselves to blend in with your environment.

 

Friday September 20 is designated as “Find your Jacket Pride Day”. To help build spirit for the 2024 Homecoming Football game against Sparta and the Homecoming parade, students and staff are encouraged to dress in your orange and black YellowJacket spirit wear and apparel.

 

On Tuesday September 17 the annual homecoming games will take place on W.O. Smith Field at approximately 2 p.m. If weather is not cooperative the games will be moved into the Colbert Gym.

 

Also on Tuesday September 17 at 5:15 P.M. will be the 2024 “Homecoming Powder Puff Football game when the girls from each of the four classes, freshmen through senior, will compete in a friendly touch football game. This event takes place on W.O. Smith Field at CHS. This year’s Powder Puff event is being sponsored by the CHS “HIVE” Pep Club with Cheri Diercks-Boyd as HIVE Sponsor.

 

Immediately following the powder puff game will be the traditional Homecoming Bon Fire and Pep RallyThis will take place behind Colbert Gymnasium.

Something new his year will be a new system for the decoration of the school for Homecoming 2024. The entire school will take part!  This will take play on Wednesday September 18. Students will be divided into either AM or PM decoration activities and specific decorating activities will be assigned. Duties will include banner-making, Hallway decorating, or class float-making.

 

Thursday September 19 members of the student council will decorate Juergens Gymnasium for the Homecoming Dance. 

 

Friday September 20 the 2024 Homecoming Parade will take place at 4:00 P.M. 

 

The 2024 Homecoming Game will be Friday evening September 20 with kick-off at 7:00 P.M. This year’s game will feature the YellowJackets from Chester and the Bulldogs from Sparta.

 

Several Chester High School classes will be in attendance celebrating their class reunions.

 

At the game the 2024 Marching YellowJackets, under the direction of Steve Colonel, will provide pre-game festivities as well and halftime music for Queen Coronation. Featured with the Marching YellowJackets is the CHS Dance Team under the direction of Head Coach Adrianne Kern.  She is assisted by Bailey Misuraca and Emily Eggemeyer.

 

Throughout the game the 2024 CHS Cheerleaders will perform and lead the spirit initiatives under the direction of new Head Coach Karson Colvis. She is assisted by Cassie Helmers and Volunteer Coach Rachel Marshall.

 

The Queen Coronation will take place at halftime of the game. At that time the float competition winners will also be announced.

 

The 2024 Football Concession Stand is the best ever and features a wide variety of hot foods as well as tasty treats and beverages. Hot food includes pork burgers, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, pepperoni and cheese pizza, nachos, walking tacos, pulled pork nachos, and pulled pork sandwiches. The pork items are provided by “Juicy J’s” Pulled Pork concessions. Other meats are grilled live at the event.

 

Drinks include water, Gatorade, and a wide variety of sodas including Squirt, Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Dew, Orange Crush, 7 Up, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Dr. Pepper,

and Diet Dr. Pepper.

 

Candy includes Nerd Rope, Twizzlers, Skittles, Sour Skittles, Sour Punch Straws, Bottle Tops, Push Pops, Ring Pops, Airheads, Cotton Candy, M&M’s, Peanut M&M’s, Kit Kats,

Twix, Snickers, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

 

The concession stand is coordinated by Jeremy Blechle, Chester High School Principal. He is very well assisted by wife Meaghan, other family members and many friends. Service is quick and friendly.

The 2024 homecoming dance is Saturday September 21 in CHS Juergen’s Gymnasium from 7-10:30 p.m. The King Coronation will take place that evening at approximately 9:00 P.M.

 

The 2024 Homecoming Court includes the following Chester High School senior and junior boys and girls.

 

King Candidates include seniors Max Blechle, Kolton Jany and Alex Williamson. Junior King Candidates include Ethan Colvis and Tray Peters.

 

Queen Candidates include seniors Mirra Krieg, Elaina Lutman, and Sadie Sellers. Junior Queen Candidates include Maggie Caby and Callie Davis.

 

The public is invited to the King Coronation Saturday, September 21 at the Homecoming Dance.
