KANSAS CITY – The Southwest Office of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has released Employer Costs for Employee Compensation for the Regions – June 2024.
Assistant Commissioner for Regional Operations Michael Hirniak noted that among the four regions, private industry employer costs for total compensation ranged from $38.99 per hour in the South to $53.15 in the Northeast. (See chart 1.)
Employer costs for nine smaller geographic divisions are also available. Within these smaller divisions, total compensation costs ranged from $31.95 per hour in the East South Central division to $53.53 in the Middle Atlantic division.
- In the West South Centraldivision (AR, LA, OK, and TX), total employer compensation costs stood at $39.09 per hour, with $28.14 (72%) going toward wages and $10.95 (28%) toward benefits.
- In the Mountaindivision (AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, NM, UT, and WY), total employer compensation costs were $38.61 per hour, with $27.80 (72%) going toward wages and $10.81 (28%) toward benefits
