Nick Buchheit was named the Mid America Rehab / Donze Communications Sports Player of the Game! Nick went 11-15 for 225 yards, threw two TDs, and added another TD on the ground with three rushes for five yards.

PERRYVILLE – Perryville beat Fredericktown 28-14 (Thursday).
Barrett Wheeler of the Perryville Pirates was named the Mid America Rehab – Donze Communications Sports Player of the Game.
He had 20 carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
Barrett was unstoppable on the field, leading the Pirates to a 28-14 victory over the Fredericktown Blackcats Friday night at Pirate Stadium. “Way to dominate, Barrett! Keep up the incredible work!”

To end the game, Jackets hold the Indians for six plays during which DuQuoin started on their own 31 yard line and reached a pair of 1st Downs and had the ball on Chester’s 33 yard line with just 1.2-seconds left in the game. Chester held DuQuoin on the final play of the game to win, 35-27
This was the first time in 25 years that the YellowJackets beat DuQuoin
DuQuoin has always been an Illinois powerhouse. They have an enrollment of 443 students. Chester has an enrollment of just 323 students

Cross Country
PERRYVILLE – Perryville High School Cross Country had a spectacular season opener at the Jackson Invitational!

On the ladies’ side, Miley Reed, Olivia Iffert, and Lucy Blythe all brought home some hardware.
The men’s team took second place in the senior division behind Kirkwood, beating out Jackson, Northwest, Notre Dame, and a field over 60 runners from 28 schools.
Medalists were Bair Hopkins, Porter Johnson, Micah Brown, Clayton Bauwens, and Preston Johnson.
The Pirates run at St. Vincent Wednesday at 3:30.
CHESTER – The Chester co-ed varsity cross country team travels to Murphysboro Invitational Wednesday.

PERRYVILLE – The Perryville Lady Pirates play in the Woodland Tournament today through Friday. They play Oak Ridge at 5:30 today, a team to be determined at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and a team to be determined at a time to be determined Friday.
PERRYVILLE – The St. Vincent Lady Indians host Kelly Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Golf
CHESTER – The Chester boys golf team hosts Okawville, Red Bud and New Athens at 4 p.m. today.
The girls team travel to Marissa at 4 p.m. today.
STE. GENEVIEVE – The Ste. Genevieve and Valle girls golf teams travel to Crown Pointe to play Farmington today at 3:30 p.m.

PERRYVILLE – The Perryville Pirates open their season today, hosting Notre Dame at 5 p.m.
Softball
CHESTER – Congratulations to the Chester Jr Jacket JV Softball Team!
