Ste. Genevieve man escapes injury in crash which sent two teens to the hospital

JEFFERSON CITY — Two 16-year-olds were hurt in a traffic crash on Route A in Jefferson County Thursday night.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports one of the 16-year-olds was from Herculaneum and was seriously injured. He was taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital by Joachim Plattin EMS.

 

The other teen, from Imperial, has minor injuries and was taken to SSM Health Cardinal Glannon by Joachim Plattin EMS

 

The patrol says the crash happened when a 2017 Hyundai Tucson driven by the Imperial youth  turned into the path of a 2024 GMC Sierra, driven by 32-year-old Bryan T. Kertz of Ste. Genevieve. Kertz was not injured.

 

The crash happened about 8:41 p.m. at the intersection of Route A and Route Z.

 

The Imperial youth and Kertz were buckled up. The Herculaneum youth was not.

 

Both vehicles were total losses and were removed by Pippins.
