SEDALIA – The Missouri State Fair Foundation last week raised the Legacy Flag at the Centennial Gate Entrance to the Missouri State Fairgrounds to honor the memory of Betty Jane Bell.
Bell, of Odessa, passed away in 2021 and the Missouri State Fair Foundation received a generous estate gift of over $430,000 to the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture scholarship program.
“The Legacy Plaza and flagpole were constructed to honor those who support the Missouri State Fair and the Missouri State Fair Foundation,“ said Karri Wilson, Executive Director of the Missouri State Fair Foundation. “Betty Jane’s generosity will ensure that generations to come will be able to pursue their dreams in agriculture.”
The Legacy Flag will fly from now until the 2025 Missouri State Fair. This generous gift will help ensure that scholarship recipients can pursue their dreams by attending the college of their choice.
The Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture committee is honored to award as many as 60 scholarships per year to the young people who will sustain our agricultural heritage for generations to come.
