Eight-year-old Perryville boy hurt in Highway 51 crash Tuesday

JEFFERSON CITY — An eight year old male suffered minor injuries in a traffic crash on Highway 51 in Perry County Monday afternoon.

 

The boy was taken to Mercy Perry Hospital by ambulance.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the child was an unrestrained passenger in a 2014 GMC Acadia driven by 36-year-old Danielle Velders of Perryville. She was also unrestrained.

 

The patrol report states crash happened when the northbound Acadia Velders was driving “failed to maintain a safe following distance” and struck the towed unit of a 2015 Ford F250 pickup as the F250 slowed to turn right onto Perry County Road 600.

 

The driver of the F250, 46-year-old Roy Richardet of Perryville was uninjured. The F-250 had minor damage and was driven from the scene.

 

The Acadia had extensive damage and was towed by Perry County.

 

Velders was cited for driving while intoxicated.

 

The crash happened about 2:30 p.m.
