STE. GENEVIEVE — Ste. Genevieve’s Proposition S, a $10 million bond issue to repair existing streets and build new streets for a subdivision off Progress Parkway was approved Tuesday 521-343 according to unofficial returns from the Ste. Genevieve County Clerk’s Office.
The issue required a 4/7ths majority or about 57 percent. It actually gained a 60 percent approval rate.

Mark Marberry won the Republican primary for Associate Commissioner District 2 697-580 or 54.58 to 46.42 percent over Kenny Williams.
Marberry will face Democrat Brent Geile, who was unopposed in the District 2 Democratic primary.
Karen Stuppy won the Democratic primary for Associate Commissioner District 1 396-171 or 69.84 to 30.16 percent over Robert H. Nugent.
Voter turnout in Ste. Genevieve County was 27.8 percent or 3,742 out of 13,480 registered voters.

PERRYVILLE – Meanwhile in the Perry County primary election:
Jay Wengert defeated Jeff Bohnert in the Republican primary for Associate Commissioner District 1: 1,246 to 860 or 59.15 to 40.84 percent.
Keith Hoehn won a four-way race for the Republican primary for Associate Commissioner District 2. Hoehn had 897 or 39.69 percent. Rocky Schumer was next with 803 or 35.53 percent. Damon Lee Dillard came in third with 380 or 16.81 percent and Douglas Martin had 180 votes or 7.96 percent.
