NEW YORK – Chester Grade’ and High School’s most prominent alumnus, Prof. James Franklin Sharp was honored during the recent Grand Opening of the new Theta Xi Fraternity Headquarters and new Theta Xi Museum in downtown Atlanta, Georgia.
In his prepared remarks, Tanner Marcantel, Executive Director of Theta Xi, thanked several people.
Professor James Franklin Sharp (who attended CGS, CHS, SIU, and U of I) was honored for being the lead donor for the Theta Xi Museum. Tanner noted that Professor Sharp was initially a member of the Beta Delta Chapter of Theta Xi, at SIU in Carbondale, and then he transferred to become a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter, at the University of Illinois in Champaign.
Professor Sharp’s sister, Rosanna Sharp Myers, and his niece, Stephanie Myers Smith, who both live in the Atlanta suburbs, also attended the Grand Opening. They said they were treated like VIPs.
Prof. Sharp’s niece Stephanie Myers Smith and sister Rosanna Sharp Myers visit with Shawn Monien, Theta Xi National Director of Alumni Engagement. Shawn was a very gracious host, who devoted considerable time showing them around the new Theta Xi Headquarters and new Theta Xi Museum; and introducing them to prominent Theta Xi Alumni who were at the Grand Opening.
Rosanna and Stephanie said they were impressed by the quantity and quality of the Theta Xi Museum.
They were also very impressed by the quantity and quality of the wide selection of very delicious
hors d’oeuvres that were served butler-style throughout the Grand Opening event.
