A funeral will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 for 91-year-old Thelma Marie Welland of Perryville, Mo. who passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Independence Care Center of Perry County.
She was born November 12, 1932 in Perryville, Mo. to Glennon and Marie (Gebhardt) Weinkein, who both preceded her in death.
Thelma and Robert Welland were married September 1, 1951 at Assumption Church. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1995.
She worked at the International Shoe Company and Roziers Grocery Store as a cashier.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 1263 Auxiliary in Perryville
Thelma was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and said the rosary daily.
She was a beautiful and very humble lady.
Survivors include a son: Randy Welland of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a daughter: Judy (Don) Heil of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; two grandchildren: Shawn Welland of Seattle, Wash., and Todd Heil of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren: Camden and Todd Jr.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Chalmer Weinkein and Clyde Weinkein.
Visitation will be 9-9:45 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.
A funeral mass for 91-year-old Thelma Marie Welland of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2024 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville with the Rev. Jay Jung officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given for Masses or to St. Mary of the Barrens Catholic Church.
