A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 for 86-year-old Wayne Fabian Schilly of Glen Carbon, Ill passed away July 18, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
He was born April 24, 1938, in Bloomsdale, Mo., a son of Fabian and Mary (Kertz) Schilly who both preceded him in death.
He married Geraldine Anne (Wipfler) Schilly, his loving wife of 64 years, on February 13, 1960. She survives.
He is also survived by sons: Dale (Kelly) Schilly, Jeffrey (Donna) Schilly, and Wayne (Katie) Schilly; grandchildren, Megan (Nick) McMillian and Anne Schilly, Ian (Sarah) Schilly and Ryan Schilly, and Courtney (Aaron) Keady and Patrick Schilly; great grandchildren, Eliza, Mia and Owen Schilly; and sisters, Marilyn (Glennon) Lalumandier, Virginia (Kerm) Davitz, Bernadette (Tom) Greminger, Diane (Tom) Drury, Mary Jean (Kenneth) Hoog.
He was also preceded in death by sisters Donna Lee Schweiss and Jane Wilder.
After graduating from Valle Catholic High School in 1956, Wayne worked for 43 years at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and all sports, especially hunting, fishing, boating, snow skiing and golfing. He served as president of the St. Angela of Merici Athletic Association, coaching his sons’ youth sports teams, and volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale, Mo.
