A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 for 95-year-old Elva “Elvie” Staffen of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Friday, July 19, 2024 at Riverview at the Park in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
She was born July 4, 1929 in Minnith, Mo., a daughter of Charles F. Porter and Eva Porter, who both preceded him in death.
She married Albert “Gene” Staffen January 27, 1951. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter: Linda (Earl) Kettinger of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; a son: Daniel (Paulette) Staffen of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; two sisters: Leona Brandel of Perryville, Mo. and Ruth Barron of Sainte Genevieve, Mo.; grandchildren: Daniel “Danny” (Jari) Staffen, Jr., Kelly (Seth) Martin, Dana (Dan) Rash, Greg Kettinger, and Sheila Staffen; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters: Nadine Rayoum, Ruby Staffen, Mary Allen, and Viola “Mick” Margaret McClure; two brothers: James Porter, and Charles F. Porter, Jr.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
A funeral for 95-year-old Elva “Elvie” Staffen of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. will be held at the Basler Funeral Home Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jacob Wessell will officiate.
Burial will follow at Sts. Philip and James Cemetery in River Aux Vases, Mo.

Elvie loved her family and especially holiday gatherings. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed gardening. Elvie embroidered and crocheted beautiful afghans.
