A funeral will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 for 86-year-old Elizabeth “Betty” Layton of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. who passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born January 25, 1938 in Ste Genevieve, Mo. a daughter to Harry Schweiss and Elizabeth (Donze) Schweiss who both preceded her in death.
She married Gerald “Jerry” Layton on September 7, 1957. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter: Lori (Ron) Reinagel of Kelso, Mo.; two sons: Thomas Layton (Connie Wisdom) of Sainte Genevieve, Mo. and Tim (Annita) Layton of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a daughter-in-law: Cindy Layton of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; grandchildren: Ashley (John) Litzelfelner, Adam (Jackie) Reinagel, Nick Reinagel, Matt (Paige) Reinagel, Erika (Austin) Westrich; Allison Layton (Colby West), Justin Layton; Tasha (Matthew) Cardin, Brittany (Seth) Carpenter, and Maria (Jacob) Bray, and 18 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son: Jeffrey Layton; and a brother: Eugene Schweiss.
She was a member of Ste. Genevieve Hospital Aux., past member of the Ste. Genevieve Golf Club and the McDonalds Coffee Gals.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2024 at the Basler Funeral Home in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
A funeral for 86-year-old Elizabeth “Betty” Layton of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve.
Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
