A funeral will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 for 86-year-old George E. Allen of Chester, Illinois, who passed away at 1:20 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Chester, Illinois.
He was born October 10, 1937 in Carrier Mills, Ill. son of Charles and Bertha (nee Woolard) Allen on October 10, 1937.
George married Norma Gail Owens July 30, 1960 in Harrisburg, Illinois; she preceded him in death on May 27, 1998.
He is survived by a daughter: Pam (Greg) Krantz of Chester, Ill.; two grandchildren: Chad (Jenny) Krantz and Brett Krantz both of Chester; and three great grandchildren: three great grandchildren: Garrett, Kinley and Sophia Krantz.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Charles (Mary) Allen Jr., Robert (Karlene) Allen and William Allen.
He retired from Menard Correctional Center in Chester, Illinois where he had worked for 30 years.
George enjoyed fishing at Randolph County Lake. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Chester, Ill.
A funeral service for 86-year-old George E. Allen of Chester, Illinois, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, Illinois. Don Berry will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Chester.
Memorials may be made to the St. John Lutheran Cemetery Fund or to the First Baptist Church in Chester.
