Four Marquand residents hurt in Highway 51 crash

JEFFERSON CITY — Four Marquand residents were hurt in a traffic crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 51 in Perry County.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the driver 34-year-old Jonathan Starkey had moderate injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital Perry by a Mercy Hospital ambulance.

 

A passenger in the car, 38-year-old Robyn D. Gurley had serious injuries and was flown to St. Louis University Hospital by Air Evac.

 

Two other passengers, girls aged eight and 13, each received minor injuries and were taken to Mercy Hospital Perry for treatment.

 

The patrol says the adults were unrestrained but the children were buckled up.

 

The patrol says the crash happened when the 2016 Nissan Sentra traveled off the left side of the road, went down an embankment. The left side of the Nissan struck a fence and continued traveling off the roadway and the front of the Nissan struck a utility pole.

 

The crash happened about 5:10 p.m. south of Perry County 712.

 

The Nissan received extensive damage and was removed by Perry County Towing.
