American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois supports IDOT’s multi-year infrastructure improvement plan

SPRINGFIELD – The American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois (ACEC Illinois) released the following statement regarding the announcement of the state’s Multi-Year Improvement Plan (MYP) for FY 2025-2030 by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT):

We applaud Governor JB Pritzker and IDOT Secretary Omer Osman for demonstrating their steadfast commitment to ReBuild Illinois through another Multi-Year Plan that provides historic funding for the maintenance and modernization of our state’s infrastructure network,” said Kevin Artl, president and CEO of the American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois. IDOT’s MYP provides a total of $41.44 billion for transportation infrastructure projects over the next five years with $29.65 billion allocated to the construction of roads and bridges and $11.79 billion for multimodal transit, including public transit, aeronautics, rail and ports. While these investments will help modernize transportation network and keep it in a state of good repair, the investments will also help attract more businesses and skilled talent to our state–creating new job opportunities and contributing to the growth of our economy. As a testimony to its tremendous success, we are glad to note that the ReBuild Illinois program has so far awarded $14.8 billion in road projects and completed 6,078 miles of road improvements, 629 bridge projects and 895 safety improvement projects across the state.”
