A funeral will be held Monday, June 17, 2024 for 99-year-old Genevieve “Genny” Elenor Weiler of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., who passed away Monday, June 10, 2024 at Sainte Genevieve Care Center in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
She was born September 30, 1924 in Weingarten, Mo., a daughter to Leo Weiler and Veronica (Braun) Weiler, who both preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister: Vernetta (Francis) Bauman of Ozora, Mo.; nephews: Perry Klein of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Daniel (Jackie) Schafer of Wentzville, Mo., James (Carol) Schafer, Ronald (Judy) Weiler, Roger (Susie) Weiler, Leo White, Tommy (Sylvia) White, Gary (Aicha) Weiler, Deacon Wayne (Josie) Weiler, Donald (Kathy) Bauman, Nieces, Veronica “Bootie” (Martin) Wittkopf of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Patricia (Larry) Shuh of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., Mary Schafer Meehan, Debbie Klein, Jane (Frank) Myer, and Sharon (Bill) Brumfield; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews; and a niece-in-law: Melba Schafer.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Lena (Emmett) Schafer, Virginia (Shirley “Red”) White, and Berniece (Russell) Klein; two brothers: Bernard (Stella) Weiler and Raymond (Hazel) Weiler; nephews: Mike Schafer, Joe (Mary) Schafer, and David White; and a niece: Margie (Gene) Hufker.
Genny was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.
In her early days, Genny worked at the Brown shoe factory in Farmington, Mo. Later on, she worked for the Betty and Elmer Donze and Joe and Jean Rozier families. Genny loved working outside, mowing grass with a motor-less push mower. She was a hard worker, enjoyed ironing and everything had its place when cleaning. Genny did not miss her shows on Saturday nights and her house was where all the nieces and nephews wanted to hang out. If there are drawers up in heaven, she will be organizing them and making sure every one is watching the Cardinals baseball games.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve in Sainte Genevieve, Mo.
A funeral for 99-year-old Genevieve “Genny” Elenor Weiler of Sainte Genevieve, Mo., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2024 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Rev. Anthony Gerber will officiate.
Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Sainte Genevieve, Mo
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
