Spectrum launches gigabit upload speeds as part of multi-billion dollar national network evolution initiative

ST. LOUIS — Spectrum has announced it has launched equal upload and download speeds for Spectrum Internet Gig (1Gbps), Spectrum Internet Ultra (500 Mbps) and Spectrum Internet (300 Mbps) in St. Louis and nearby communities. The new upload speeds are up to 30 times faster than the company’s previous offerings and deliver customers enhanced connectivity for Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), faster Ultra High Definition (UHD/4k) video uploads, better livestreaming, and more responsive gaming.

All Spectrum Internet plans will include equal upload and download speeds for both new and existing Spectrum Internet customers with no change in the plan price. Current customers will receive a complimentary upgrade to the faster upload speeds shortly after the faster speeds are launched in their area, or they can call Spectrum Customer Service to be upgraded immediately.

“Our dramatically faster upload speeds further enhance applications like video conferencing, gaming, AR/VR, AI and sharing high quality large video files — and position the network for the applications of the future,” said Jeff Gehrig, Spectrum Regional Vice President of Operations.

Spectrum is now offering equal upload and download speeds in Reno, NV; Rochester, MN; Lexington, KY and St. Louis, MO. The faster upload speeds are the result of Spectrum’s multi-billion dollar national network evolution initiative evolving the connectivity experience to exceed the needs of the modern customer and continuously deliver fast and reliable speeds. Spectrum Internet exceeded advertised download and upload speeds for all tiers measured — even during peak weeknight usage between 7 and 11 p.m. — according to the FCC’s most recent “Measuring Broadband America Fixed Broadband Report.[i] By contrast, cell phone home internet (“fixed wireless access”) providers, such as T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon, are less reliable and prone to speed fluctuations. Ookla® Speedtest Intelligence® data revealed they failed to consistently provide all customers broadband speeds of even 25 Mbps during peak hours (7-11 p.m.).[ii]
