Rep. David Friess updates status of Chester Covered Bridge

RED BUD – Everyone is aware of the extensive damage the Chester Covered Bridge sustained on July 1, 2023.

I hope to be able to make an announcement in the near future about the necessary repairs.

Since the Covered Bridge is a historical structure, the repairs must be approved by the Illinois State Historical Society. This process, unfortunately, makes the approval of repairs and the bid letting more difficult and time consuming.

Please be patient.

I know this is a priority for IDOT, and IDOT wants the Coverage Bridge repaired as soon as possible.
