A funeral will be held Monday, June 10 for 73-year-old Clifford Ritchie Schmidt of Altenburg, Mo. who passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024 at his residence.
He was born August 27, 1950 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. a son of Elmer and Lorna (Hasse) Schmidt who both preceded him in death.
Clifford and Karon Sue Sterling were married November 11, 1972 at Altenburg.
Survivors include a son: Rodney Schmidt of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; two daughters: Cherie (Keith) Hazel of Jackson, Mo., and Melissa (Mayank) Gupta of Chicago, Ill.; a sister: Doreen Carpenter of New Wells; two brothers: Ron (Arlyss) Schmidt of Altenburg and Robert (Diane) Schmidt of Altenburg; five grandchildren: Bryan Strubinger, Jacob Schmidt, Josh Schmidt, Matthew Schmidt, and Thomas Woodworth.
He was also preceded in death by his brother: Merlin Schmidt; and a brother-in-law: William Carpenter.
He was a lead man at Gilster Mary Lee for 25 years.
Clifford loved fishing , hunting, woodworking and he was a Chicago Cubs fan.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday, June 10, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg.

Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Altenburg.
