CHESTER – The Mississippi River remained below flood stage Wednesday morning, falling to 25.73 feet on the Chester gage.
It was forecast to fall to 24.8 this morning, then 23.8 Friday, 23.0 Saturday, 22.7 Sunday and then rise slightly to 22.9 Monday.
The high water has forced the suspension of ferry service between Ste. Genevieve, Mo. and Modoc, Ill. There has been no announcement regarding the ferry returning to service.
The high water also forced construction of the Don Welge Memorial Bridge to be halted.
