Susan L. Tharp (Beers) of Auburn, Illinois passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024. The daughter of Fredia and Gordon Beers, she was born in Red Bud, Illinois on April 22, 1946. Susan graduated from Chester High School in Chester Illinois, and she worked for more than two decades at the State Bank of Auburn/United Community Bank in Auburn and later retired from the State of Illinois.
Susan was a loving mother and grandmother, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt as well as a loyal friend who was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. With a wry sense of humor, she was always one to make others crack a smile or laugh.
Susan is survived by many who will dearly miss her including her daughter Lori (Michael) Harris, son John (Stephanie), granddaughters Hannah and Maya Tharp. Her financee, James Corrona, whom she reconnected with after more than 50 years following their days as grade school friends.
As one of five children, Susan loved her siblings and their spouses fiercely and considered them her best friends and confidants. Her surviving siblings include Philip (Mary) Beers, James (Vicky) Beers.
Susan was a caring Aunt to Angie Volle-Patrylo, Karen Hagan, Larry Beers, Tricia Link, Jimmy Beers, Kristi Sawicki, Emily Cross, and Jeffery Beers.
Predeceased by her mother and father, Fredia and Gordon Beers, sisters Phyllis (Kenneth) Volle, and Nan (Ron) Link.
In addition to her loving family, Susan was blessed with many lifelong friends which were so important to her including the crazy “Bunco” ladies, those whom she worked with, neighbors, school mates, and those collected in the travels of her life.
Susan traveled a difficult path during the last two years, during that time the incredible, caring staff of Reflections Memory Care in Chatham loved and cared for her and allowed her to live with love and dignity until her passing.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, June 15th from 2 – 5 pm at Bramley Reception Center, 150 Reichert Road, Divernon, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted in Susan’s name at the Animal Protective League of Springfield, Illinois. Donations can be made online at
