Two persons hurt in Highway 51 crash in Perry County

JEFFERSON CITY – Two persons suffered serious injuries in a traffic crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 51 in Perry County near the Air Evac Base.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 62-year-old Mary K. Douglas of Perryville and 30-year-old Dakota S. Queen of Fredericktown were both taken by Air Evac helicopter to Mercy St. Louis University Hospital.

According to the accident report: Douglas was traveling south in a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox and Queen was traveling north in a 2020 Toyota Corolla. The patrol says the Equinox crossed the center line and despite Queen’s efforts to avoid a crash by traveling off the right side of the road, the front of the Equinox struck the front of the Corolla.

The crash happened about 12:04 p.m.

The patrol says both drivers were buckled up.

Both vehicles were total losses and were removed by Perry County Towing.
